When it occurred to me to share this topic on my blog, I was excited. It was going to be the easiest blog ever to write. After all, I will only be sharing something that is indelibly registered in my heart, mind and soul which I have repeated for years during my daily devotion. Then it occurred to me that such a thought might be somewhat irreverent. How and why should I think it will be easy to share my relationship with the Creator of Heaven and earth, The OmniPotent, Omni-Present, Omni-Scient. The Alpha and Omega.
But then again, He is the Self-Existent One Who Reveals Himself. And that is exactly what makes Him the Holy One! For unlike other created gods who have no choice but to hide themselves behind occultic practices of secret societies who only admit those who perform imposed rituals, routines and ceremonies, and make all sorts of demands, conditions and threats, and use double-entendres, devices to hide their impotence.
To the contrary, this Jesus, my Jesus, is THE LIGHT OF THE WORLD. He has nothing to hide. Rather, His Light reveals the unfruitful works of darkness… in individual lives and in the world in general. In fact, His intention in coming to the world just like me and you was to reveal Himself even more clearly, and to establish and deepen His relationship with all by drawing them into His Light.
He even went as far as to die like you and I will eventually do, so that we might not suffer the consequences of death, but be raised with Him in His Resurrection! But of course only those who accept this Truth can benefit from His amazing Work of Grace. Undeserved yet always available.
Furthermore, since He is THE SAME YESTERDAY, TODAY AND FOREVER, He has no need for cunning tricks and complicated requirements and gyrations to save those who come to Him and acknowledge Him as their LORD AND SAVIOUR! That is indeed why He declared in Matthew 11: 28-30
“Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble at heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light”
So then I feel free to wax strong on whom Jesus is to me. But before then I cannot resist pointing out the GREAT LESSON in the above words of Jesus. He Himself declares that His qualification for being a teacher is because He is humble! May this be engraved in the hearts of all those who teach!
Now, then, it is with great joy that I make this declaration.
JESUS IS MY SAVIOUR, REDEEMER AND DELIVERER. HE IS MY SANCTIFIER, MY BAPTISER AND MY HEALER.
But I need to pause here to point out that where writing this might get complicated for me is that I have such a strong desire to share personal testimonies that back up each of these declarations. Which means I will likely go off-track. So in order to avoid that, I invite any interested reader to get in touch with me through the link provided on this web site. All you need do is click on it and I will receive it and share more with those who would like to hear more. However, My Conversion Testimony also on this web site will provide you with a shorter version). So I now continue.
JESUS IS MY LORD AND MY GOD. HE IS MY KING, MY MASTER AND MY TEACHER. HE IS MY FATHER, MY BROTHER AND MY FRIEND. HE IS THE LOVER OF MY SOUL. HE IS THE PEAK AND CORE OF ALL MY RELATIONSHIPS.
JESUS IS MY COMFORTER AND MY CONSOLER. HE IS MY RIGHTEOUSNESS, MY PEACE AND MY JOY. HE IS MY DELIGHT, MY UNCOUNTABLE TREASURE AND MY PEARL OF GREAT PRICE.
JESUS IS MY GUARDIAN AND MY GUIDE, MY PROTECTOR, DEFENDER ADVOCATE AND VINDICATOR. JESUS IS MY SATISFACTION AND MY CONTENTMENT!
JESUS IS MY GREAT HELPER AND PROVIDER. HE IS MY EVERLASTING PORTION, MY ETERNAL ROCK OF AGES, MY ANCHOR THAT HOLDS AND MY BLESSED ASSURANCE.
HE IS MY REFUGE AND MY FORTRESS, MY SHIELD AND MY BUCKLER, THE LIFTER-UP OF MY FACE. JESUS IS MY SAFE HAVEN AND MY HIDING PLACE.
Now some of you may be wondering what some of the words in the last paragraph signify since they are mostly old concepts. So I have done some research on the words that I feel may interest you most.
SIGNIFICANCE OF REFUGE AND FORTRESS: In the figurative sense, when you say the Lord is your “refuge,” you are also declaring that He is your place of hope. The Lord is also your fortress. In Hebrew, the word used for “fortress” here refers to a castle o stronghold, a place of defense and protection against large-scale attacks.
SIGNIFICANCE OF SHIELD AND BUCKLER: A buckler refers to a small round shield used for close-contact fighting. A shield is much larger, one you can dig into the ground and hide behind when spears, arrows, or rocks are being launched at you in a bigger attack. So whether it is a small or big attack, His truth—your shield and buckler—covers you completely!
I could go on about what Jesus is to me, but I can never exhaust it so…
HERE ENDETH THE LESSON FOR TODAY. ENJOY!
